Chapter 5

Chapter Five

Eliora's POV

Luxury!

Eliora Ganes, welcome to the world of luxury.

No more hungry life.

No more pain.

No more.... thinking before acting.

I've gotten my savior.

Maybe nature isn't totally bad.

I sat in my bath full of soap foam, I scrub gently with a smile on my face. I couldn't believe my life was taking another route, it was changing overnight and I was overwhelmed with joy.

Her arrival has impacted my life, if this continues, I'll have no stress paying my bills. Maybe being friends with her isn't a bad idea, at least it comes with benefits.

"Eliora!!"

The loud voice of Mrs. Margaret woke me up from my illusional trance, I jumped up from my bath and immediately wrapped my soggy blue NY designed towel around my chest then I left to check the door.

"Ma" I greeted.

"Eliora, you need to vacate this building," Mrs. Margret said.

Where is her smile? Why isn't she smiling or kind as usual? Is not even up to a week, I need more time. This is an early morning disgrace, I cleared my throat softly.

"Ma... Friday isn't here yet and I..." I began with a mischievous grin and embarrassment written all over my face but she bluntly cut me off.

"Will you vacate or I will call my grandchildren to help you pack?" She asked with an annoying tone.

Isn't she being rude? I'm way older than her grandchildren, if not for the fact she's old... I'd have shown her who I truly am. How dare she humiliate me?

"I'm screwed" I muttered under my breath and Mr. Desmond who just stepped out from his room shot a glance at us and his mother asked him to come, shame really did kill me.... inside though.

"Hey momma and pretty Eliora" Mr. Desmond smiled, he's way too nice.

"I want her to move out of here" Mrs. Margret said bluntly with her gaze at me.

"Mum, Eliora has been our tenant for years and she's like our family" Mr. Desmond begins and while my eyes go all weak begging for mercy, I realized I was wearing only my towel under nakedness.

What the fuck!

As Desmond pleaded with his mother, other tenants started going out to begin their day and shame began to eat me up again.... I skeptically started walking back to my room backwardly.

"Stop there" Mrs. Margaret's thin angry voice cut me off and I shivered frantically.

"You have to pay or leave here immediately" Mrs. Margret repeated herself and Mr. Desmond, seeing his effort had gone futile, sighed sadly and left for their mansion.

"What's happening here?" a familiar voice asked behind Mrs. Margaret and a smile escaped from my lips.

My savior is here.

I smiled at my thought.

Jennifer exchanged warm pleasantries with Mrs. Margret while I adjusted the towel around my chest.

"She has been owing for a year and I really need her to vacate so someone else can live here" the old lady explained softly to Jennifer.... rich people's influence huh.

"How much is her debt?" Jennifer asked.

"Three hundred dollars" Mrs. Margaret said.

"I'll write you a cheque then" Jennifer said as she opened her small purse and brought out a cheque book and a pen, she began writing in silence.

"You're quite lucky, Lad" Mrs. Margaret snorted as if she despised the fact that Jennifer was paying for me.

"A lad is someone from the age of one to five" I bluffed annoyingly and soon Jennifer gave the cheque to her which she received.

"I'll not disturb you both then" as old Margret leaves she smiled at the cheque in her palm and I turned to Jennifer.

"I owe you a lot... you know" I scratched my hair nervously.

"How about you freshen up and dress properly?" Jennifer said with her eyes on me rolling up and down.

"Sure... I'll"

"Thank you" I cowardly entered my room and as soon as I closed the door, I squealed happily in silence and ran into my bedroom.

Evening came so fast and I didn't notice it as I was drawn to the novel I was reading, The Book Keeper's Heart. It's not a new novel but I just wanted to while some time but I must say... It was worth reading.

I walked into my kitchen thinking of what to prepare for supper when my doorbell rings.

"I already paid my rent!" I frowned as I placed my phone on the table to check the door.

"Jenny?" I called in surprise.

"That's more like it," She smiled.

I didn't know when I said the Jenny word, it's not as if I like her ... really.

"What's Up?" I asked her nervously.

"I prepared popcorn and chocolate tea"

"How about you come to my room and watch some movies with me?" She asked anxiously with those light blue eyes of hers pleading pretty please. I can't actually say no to movies...

"Sure. I'll be there" I said.

"Thank you" in excitement she ran back to her room while I exhaled and went back into my room.

Watching movies with her, is it a bad idea or a good one?

Jennifer now Jenny gave the movie list to me so I could choose and I silently went through it while she left me to get some blankets in her bedroom.

Her room was dark with dim blue lights, cool atmosphere due to the turned on air condition, the fragrance of the room scent like strawberry and I craved for it... silently, the brown center rug and silver center table and the long LED television in front of me.... her apartment was wonderfully equipped and arranged, left for me I'd want to start living with her but ... I won't stoop so low.. duh!

Jenny comes in with the blanket wearing a big smile on her face, I couldn't tell the color of the blanket due to the dark bulbs and room.

"Seen anyone you like?" Jenny asked as she took her seat beside me.

"Yes..." I stressed my words because almost all the movies seem interesting to me.

"So which are we watching?" Jenny asked me, properly arranging the blanket on our laps.

"Princess Switch, season one" I said, pulling the popcorn and cups of tea closer to us.

"Perfect!" Jenny smiled and I smirked.

"Google, play Princess Switch season one from Netflix" Jenny said and I looked at her like a coward... which I literally am and immediately the movie started playing on the television in front of us.

"Wow" I exclaimed and she remained in her posture.

I slept in her armchair... I did sleep there.... I overslept... It's so not me.

I pace around my house like a moron, it's already 10:30am. Jenny said she was going for some grocery shopping but I didn't see anything to shop when her house was fully stocked. I was left alone in my room to debate on my complicated feelings.

Why did I sleep at her place? Are we now best friends? Is this how the best friends thing works?

Well I don't like it because no one will ever pass the night in my room... I deserve some kind of privacy, right.

After hours of sitting at home, watching movies and eating I decided to stroll and see what the environment I lived in looked like.

I walked down the ave and I noticed some bustling coffee shops, skewer stands, marts and many other things. The city or street precisely is not as bad as I thought.

"Mummy, I'll love to taste the new ice cream" a little child that looked about eight years old shakes her mother's dress sadly.

"Eva, who still licks durian cream?" the mother shunned her child's desire and I smiled walking quietly.

For three years, aside from going to school from the back route and coming straight home. I have never strolled on the streets, I saw it as time wasted but what I did tonight really swayed my mind into peaceful thinking.

The light chirping sound from the birds, the wavy sound and dancing trees caused by the wind, the car horns, jingling sounds from coffee shops and marts, people's disagreements, lovers outdoor romance and all of it... they sucked but it helped my complicated blinded heart.

After my stroll, I returned back to my estate and I saw old Margret's grandchildren and their friends, they greeted me with joy and I waved at them and walked into the compound then I saw Mr. Desmond walking toward my lodge section.

"Mr. Dessy! Hold on" I called and ran toward him and of course he stopped and waited for me.

"Where were you?" Desmond knew me as someone who doesn't go out or socialize, so except for going to see the moon I have no lies.

"I strolled" I spilled and Desmond coughed, one could tell something triggered his cough... you all know too.

"Pretty Eliora does stroll?" Desmond laughs with an unbelievable expression.

"There's always a first time" We began walking deeper into my lodge section as we discussed.

"How have you been?" Desmond paused.

"Love your new neighbor huh?" Desmond asked anxiously with a small smile on his face.

"Love? Who said that I do?" I snorted and Desmond laughed.

"She takes care of you... you know?" Desmond reminds me.

"I don't love her. She bugs me so much and ... I really hate her being around me but as long as she can foot my bills, I'm satisfied" I ranted bluntly while he stared at me speechless.

"What?" I asked when I noticed he looked lost.

Since he wasn't responding I decided to turn backward and then I saw her, Jenny staring at me blankly.

Holy shit! Did she hear anything?
