Chapter 12
Eliora's POV
It didn't rain last night but this morning gave me cold chills all over that I had to add a thick dark coat on my wears.
I locked my apartment door and turned to leave when I saw Jennifer adding more gloss to her red lips, I smirked and immediately she turned to me.
"Morning Eliora" Jennifer chirped and I opened my mouth to speak but she cut me off.
"How do I look?" she asked anxiously.
"You've always been sexy" I teased and she blushed.
"Going somewhere?" I crossed my arms.
"Of course" she winked at me flirtatiously and I smiled.
"Have a good time then, I got to rush" I said with a mischievous grin hurriedly leaving the estate.
As usual, the university was bustling with live, people walking in groups and single on their sweaters, some who had partners curled up together kissing and holding hands... to gain some body heat, maybe.
The university shopping complex had tons of ladies around it as they seem to be pricing latest designers while the restaurant had the CLOSED sign on the transparent glass door.
I walked into the hallway heading to my lecture hall, my hands were tucked in my coat pocket and I was wearing my earphones that played "I Know You by Skylar Grey." I wasn't popular in the university and I never planned on trying to fit into anything, if they can't imitate me then let it be.
"Babe" Nathan called immediately as I stepped into the hall.
"Hey" I approached my desk, the lecturer was arranging some papers on his table with the help of the course representative.
"Are you ready?" my desk mate said overly courageous.
"Whatever" I sighed and focused my gaze on the lecturer.
The lecturer started sharing the marked script with us carefully, students' gazes started changing some were confused, sad, expressionless, and angry ... name it.
I remain reserved, mustering up courage to take hold of my script. The lecturer gave my deskmate her script before mine.
Judging by her facial expression, the result doesn't seem to be as she had claimed... what happened?
If the lady that wrote heaven on earth is looking all gloomy then there's no hope for me.
I gradually opened my script then I saw a cleanly written A at the header.
"A?" I squealed in astonishment.
No, it's so untrue. I didn't write anything, I used thirty minutes to answer five questions that I wasn't sure of.
Battling with my thoughts, my deskmate turned to me ... looking angrier than the last time I saw her.
"Any issue?" I asked cryptically.
"You copied!" She said and I smirked.
"When did I?" I rolled my eyes annoyingly.
I was so happy, I never expected to score so high.. I least expected an A.
I put the script into my bag and focused on my lecturer while my dear seatmate fumed in anger... I didn't care.
After lecture, I left the hall heading towards the school art hall for our last rehearsal when I saw my posters everywhere around the campus.
On the billboard, on the hallway pin post, I mean everywhere.
"ROMEO AND JULIET SHOWING ON 14TH FEBRUARY AT THE SCHOOL AUDITORIUM"
Students gathered around the posters taking pictures and giggling on their anticipation to see the play, I smiled and wondered if this was how being popular felt like.
"Hey, you're the one playing the Juliet role" a junior level student asked anxiously and immediately everyone's attention turned to me.
"I... I'm" I stammered not knowing how to answer that.
"A picture please".
"Your signature" they started snapping and pushing themselves just to near me and I ran in fear, they didn't stop as they followed hastily.
"Humpf!!"
"Humpf!!" I turned to see Jack bending upright beside me with his hands on his knees, he panted the way I did.
"What happened?" I asked heavily.
"Same thing that happened to you" He teased and I laughed off cleaning my sweat stylishly.
"Are we celebrities?" I asked anxiously.
"It seems so." We began walking down the back secret door to the art hall, Jack led the way because I had no idea about it.
The art hall was full of the needed individuals for the rehearsal, I and Jack walked closer to the director and professor who were discussing.
"Greetings sir" I greeted politely.
"You're here," Mr. Wilson said with smile on his face.
"Let's get started" Director Robert said clapping his hands to call the attention of everyone.
"We have got only today to score our script, perfect our role and cover every scene. No mistake" Director Robert said confidently.
"Yes!" We squealed.
We started acting the play from the top to the last scene, the director added new parts and explained to the music coordinator how the music must flow with the act, our costumes were selected for each scene and everything became clearer in a bit.
I exhaled and walked to an empty seat, I gulped the water hungrily and tapped on my phone then I saw new messages from Nathan.
"Hey babe",
"Our date last night was canceled,"
"Can we still do it today?"
"I'll wait for you at the school gate"
After reading his message a small smile crept from my lips and I dropped my phone back on the seat and proceeded to act.
We finished rehearsal around 8:30 pm and we were the last soul on campus, I hurriedly followed a few students as we walked to the gate. In my mind, I was wondering if I should accept Nathan's date.
I mean, I need to change and clean myself up.
I didn't get much chance to think as I saw Nathan in front of the school gate as soon as I stepped out thus we headed for the nearest Karaoke hall.
We had drinks, meat, and snacks on our table and I requested for Nobody's Perfect by Jessie J, and immediately the music started playing, I took hold of the microphone while Nathan watched me while drinking.
I sang loudly to my heart's content and Nathan requested his own music, we did this till night dawned fully on us, if you'd ask me, I don't know how I got home.
Rolling on my bed sideways, I opened my eyes slowly and found myself in bed.
"How did I get here?" I muttered to myself as I sat upright.
"Urgh! What happened last night?" I groaned covering my face with my palm.
I took my phone from the bedside table, turned on my WiFi, and checked if there were any notifications.
"Saturday?"
"It's weekend!" the thought of it made me jump out of bed with a smile on my face.
I washed my face and proceeded to unlock my apartment door, the surroundings remained quiet as if it was a grave yard.
"Isn't she back?" As I thought, I knocked on her door twice until I heard a faint voice through the door.
"Jenny?" I pulled open the door and rushed inside the house.
I saw Jenny watching a movie in the living room and her eyes were covered with dark circles, I walked toward her and sat beside her on the armchair.
"What happened?" I asked anxiously.
"Nothing" Jennifer nodded.
"You don't look alright" I frowned.
"Eliora" Jennifer called me and I nodded.
"You were right when you said men are scum" Jennifer cried out and I pat her gently.
"Is everything alright?" I asked nervously as she was looking like one who would commit suicide soon.
"My boyfriend ditched me" Jennifer said vividly and I fret.
"You mean..." I stutter anxiously staring at her sadly.
"He ditched me, he left me at a restaurant and went to work" Jennifer explained abstractly and I sigh.
"Jenny, does your boyfriend love you at all?" I asked relaxing on the soggy armchair.
"Of course. He does love me" Jennifer said optimistically.
"But since we got here, he changed." Her countenance changed and I shook my head.
"It's okay. Give him some time for himself" I assured her with a small smile on my face.
"I guess," Jennifer said.
"So, today is the weekend. What shall we do?" I asked enthusiastically and she turned to me.
"When is your graduation?" Jennifer asked.
"In two weeks or more..." I said unsure and she smiled.
"Well... I have a surprise for you though" Jennifer said.
"What is it?" I asked anxiously.
"Till then" Jennifer winked.
"Now you've aroused my curiosity" I frowned.
"Don't worry, you will love it" Jennifer assured and I nodded.
"So as for the weekend, how about we go out?" Jennifer asked and I pause to think.
"An amusement park is fun during weekends" I suggested and she nods.
"Go prepare then" Jennifer said.
"Sure" I left her room happily.
I was dressed in a light blue mini jean skirt, a red plain polo, a white can, sunglass and baby pun hair and beside was Jennifer, she wore a black jean trouser, a white polo with classic designs, a white Louis Vuitton can, a sunglass and a plaited bun hair, we looked comfortable and smart.
The city amusement park was bustling with live, people run up and down laughing happily and there were plenty of games to play. There's roller coaster, pirate ship ride, darting arrows to win a teddy bear, mad swing and numerous fun activities.
We first got ourself hairbands before proceeding into buying of cone ice cream, we walked around the park taking selfies and pictures.
"I heard they will launch fireworks tonight",
"So I heard, can we watch it together?"
"Let's meet at the small bridge by 6",
"Sure" the young couple continue discussing as they walk pass us and I turned to Jennifer.
"I'd love to watch fireworks, I have never seen one before" I said pitifully and Jennifer laughed.
"Let's play some games before 6 then" Jennifer said and I nod.
We approached the roller coaster, paid for our ticket, fasten our seat belt and I prepared for the worse.
I have never ride on a roller coaster before... I only watched it on movies but trying it out today isn't a bad decision, or is it?
Gradually, gradually we started going high, higher, higher and then back to the ground.
"Wow!!!"" the passengers and I screamed in fear, joy and happiness... I don't know for them but I screamed in fear grasping Jennifer's hand tightly.
It lasted for few minutes and I jumped out of it exhaling heavily while Jennifer laughed at me in mockery.
"What?" I frowned fringing anger.
"Nothing" Jennifer shook her head with broad smile on her face.
"It's almost 6" I reminded scornfully.
"How about winning a teddy bear?" Jennifer suggested.
"I'm up for it?" I said courageously.
Someone should call me... Busybody...
After my courageous font, I ended up winning no teddy as for Jennifer... I better not say as she was loaded with plenty of teddies, she started sharing them to some children, I smirked.
"Fireworks!"
"Fireworks!" People screamed loudly from distance and immediately other people standing at the small darting shop started running to the bridge including us.
Fireworks spread widely on the dark sky and people scream in joy with smile on their faces, I took pictures and selfies, I uploaded some on Instagram, Facebook and on my status. It was a night to remember but beside me, Jennifer had a sad expression.
"Are you alright?" I ask, worried.
"A past just flashed in my mind" Jennifer said like a grim reaper.
"Can you share?" I asked politely.
"It's about me and my boyfriend... The last time we met in Italy , we watched fireworks and moon together" Jennifer said sadly and I smiled.
"That's a nice one. Which man will stoop so low to watch fireworks with their girlfriend? I mean, we ain't Chinese" I teased and she laughed.
"At the sight of these fireworks, I can't help but miss him so much" Jennifer said.
"I can't wait to meet your boyfriend" I said.
"Oh really" Jennifer blushed.
"I mean, if he isn't handsome then you deserve some beating" I teased and she laughed.
"For sure he's handsome, sweet, kind, and very rich!" Jennifer said lovingly and I smiled.
"You really adore him .. don't worry, he's definitely going to call you soon" I gave her an assuring smile.
"Can we eat something? I'm so hungry" Jennifer said and I laughed.
"Yes ma, I know of a restaurant downtown" I suggested.
First time in an amusement park, and I had fun. Would I ever have another free weekend?
