Chapter 11
Austin's POV
I sat on the upholstery in Alpha King's living room. Other pack leaders were present, as it was a meeting concerning the invasion of white witches.
Last month, it was noticed that some white witches took away the souls of Blue Moon pack Gammas, and this startled him. If it were just his pack, there would have been no need for this meeting, but the white witches invasion proceeded deeply into other packs, which caused them huge losses.
I listened with keen attention as my subordinate leader, Gauis from Star Moon pack, explained the current state of the packs in New York and also sought remedies.
"Will it be possible to seek refuge in the Black Moon pack?" one of the Alphas suggested.
"If we do that, the witch's eyes will face his pack," the other said.
"The reason this plague hasn't reached the Black Moon pack is because they reside in the inner west part of the city." They continued deliberating and discussing while I listened in silence.
Being an Alpha Lord wasn't just about the title; it was also about the responsibility tied to one's shoulders. I was the leader of all the wolf packs in New York, and the responsibility has never been an easy task. Aside from the responsibility, I also have arch enemies within the pack, as some Alpha leaders envy my position. I have passed through a series of dangers in my life, so dealing with witches isn't something I would hit my head on tackling.
I cleared my throat, and the chatter in the hall ended. They focused on me.
"I think the best way to kill these witches once and for all is to lure them into the Red Moon pack," I informed them vividly.
"My pack?!" Alpha Wolves were questioned in anger.
Yes," I said.
"This is because your pack is the nearest and also very close to our aid," I explained to the wolves and turned to the others.
"What do you think?" I asked.
"Well...",
"That's a nice plan, though",
"I think we should try it out." The Alphas trembled, and a few stood firm; they were mostly afraid of Wolves wrath.
He is known to be one of the arrogant and heartless wolves; he doesn't do romance or have any vulnerability. They would rather die a peaceful death than anger him.
"Absurd!" Wolves hit his hand angrily on the table, and I smirked.
"Why must it be my pack? Are you envious of the fact that I own the most skilled Gammas and Zetas?" Wolves queried in contempt.
"I don't need your approval or suggestion in matters like this. I make the call," I snorted, provoked.
One thing is for sure: I'm quick to anger.
"My decision is final; all we need to discuss is the nearby aid so the Red Moon pack won't suffer any loss," I said vividly.
Authority.
The Alphas started airing out their suggestions and plans, and soon the personal guard I came with entered the hall and approached me.
"My Lord, I'm here to report to you," he whispered softly in a courteous tone to my ear, and I nodded, giving him the go ahead.
"News from the mansion! Miss Noella hasn’t been in her room for almost three hours now," he informed me.
"Who gave her the right!? It seems she is more adamant than I thought. She deserves to be taught a lesson." At the thought of this, I clenched my fist in ire while nodding skeptically.
"You can leave." I tried to control my temper before any outburst.
He left the room, and I heaved a sigh of relief.
"We shall further discuss this issue in the latter." I stood from my seat, looking at each of them in silence, before leaving the room.
They increase their chatter.
Noella's POV
I decided to walk back to my room, but unfortunately, I stumbled into my cousins, and by their facial expressions, one could tell that I had met my DEATH.
"What the fuck?" These words escaped from my mouth absentmindedly.
"Nice to meet you again, cousin," Sara sneered. Laura crossed her arms, giving me a disdainful stare.
"How did you come in?" I asked anxiously.
The last time I checked, irrelevant visitors were not allowed within Austin's chamber, and the security system was difficult to pass through.
"It took us one week to bribe those silly Gammas; I used my tuition fee just to enter this mansion," Sara blabbed.
"And I must seek my revenge; I won't let my money go down the drain." They slowly approached me, and I stepped backward.
"What did I do?" I frowned slightly.
"You should be fighting with your sister for pushing me into this; do you think it's my fault? Your sister also has a hand in this," I cried out. What I would love to watch is hatred between these two sisters.
I want them to battle neck-to-neck and hate each other's guts; that is the debt they have to pay for their father's ill steps in the past.
"Sara, don't listen to this snake." Laura eyed me before turning to her sister.
"That won't do. I can deal with my sister later, but with you, it's either now or never." Sara charged to my neck with her hands stretched out. I sought protection, but it was already too late.
Laura laughed loudly in mockery while watching her sister press my neck tightly. I almost suffocated and found it difficult to breathe.
There was no one to call for help, as the hallway to my room is always isolated.
"Sto—stop" I whimpered in anguish, but she didn't bulge.
She wore a creepy smile as her hand on my neck grew stronger. I started slapping it as I was in a dire situation.
"What is happening here?" Beta Aragon asked, strolling toward us.
I smiled because my savior is here, and Sara immediately recoiled. I coughed and exhaled in relief.
"Are you okay?" Aragon asked, and I nodded slowly.
"What are the Abels doing here?" Aragon asked anxiously.
"I... We..." Laura stumbled with words; I beam.
"I will pretend never to have seen you here. Leave this instant," Aragon said. They nodded sadly and rushed out of the mansion.
Beta Aragon is the second in command in our pack; he is also the closest man to Alpha Austin, and since I came here, he has been the only one treating me so nicely, but unfortunately, he is always busy with work, especially when Austin is present.
I massaged my neck, and he turned to me with concern in his eyes.
"Are you okay?" He asked for it a second time.
"Yeah, I'm." I smirked as I continued walking.
"Hold on," he called me back, and I stopped.
"The Alpha has returned, and he wants you in his chamber now," he informed me politely.
"So fast!" I exclaimed.
I thought he would stay for days while I enjoyed my freedom and prepared my top plan, but at the realization of today's date, I sprint up happily.
"Sure, sure. I will head over there now," I said.
"Like this?" He wondered why I was wearing a long black gown that didn't look attractive.
"Like this," I smiled and ran along the hallway, heading to his chamber.
Since I'm now acquitted with most of the servants, I was ushered into his chamber without much delay. It was exactly 11:30 PM; the auspicious hour was closer, and so did I get closer to his room.
Austin was bare-chested and wearing only his shorts; he was sitting on a brown leather chair beside his wide master bed as I walked close to him.
"My Lord!" I announced my present.
"I asked you to stay indoors and never step outside; why did you disobey my orders?" He questioned in ire.
"Sorry, my lord. I was bored and had no option but to get used to my environment," I informed him courageously.
"What courage!" he sneered.
"It seems since I haven't punished you, you are yet to know how ruthless I can be." He gradually stood from the chair, and I held the small knife behind me firmly.
I was ready to stab him the moment he got closer to me.
Suddenly, he crumbled to the ground, holding his head tightly. As he shook his head and screamed heavily, he transformed into a wolf and back into a human with a snap of a finger.
It was like an instant glitch; he couldn't control his transformation between a dangerous, desperate wolf and a daring human. I watched him gnash his teeth in anguish and scream with his sharp teeth. I stepped backward in fear, as he would kill anything that came closer to him. I looked out of the window and caught sight of the moon that was refulgent in the sky; it was so round and big.
"This is my chance to kill this demon," I thought, charging over him, but soon he collapsed on the bed.
I rushed over to see his eyes burning red and his chest covered with the fur of a wolf. I raised my hand with the small knife to stab him, but
"Save me, save me, please save me." His calm, desperate, and doleful words caught me off guard.
"Even the Alpha can beg for help." I became weak and had pity on him; he looked so desperate.
The small knife fell off my hand.
