Chapter 21
Eliora’s POV
I continued rolling on my bed trying to catch some sleep but it felt like my heart had just been broken after so many years.
Why did I feel so bad after hearing his harsh words? I felt as if we're just breaking up which isn't right.
I feel so bad that he doesn't want me to be around him or anyone close to him, does he hate me this much?
At the thought of this, I felt like giving up life and dying... But, I didn't want to die.
I stared at my rolling ceiling fan in silence, my bedroom was still dark because the curtain hasn't been open but the blue bulbs lightened up the room.
"Ma'am" a soft knock came from the door, it was Tony.
"Yes?" I shouted.
"Miss. Jennifer is here to see you" Tony said.
"Jennifer?" I muttered to myself.
"Tell her I'm not at home." I said.
"It's too late bitch" a familiar voice said while the door opened, it was Jennifer. Tony shook his head frantically and left the bedroom, I sighed and fell back to the bed.
"Liora, are you okay?" Jennifer asked.
"Yes. I just want to be alone" I said sternly.
I didn't want to smile, I wanted to remain stiff and annoying so she would leave... That's what I planned to do.
"But that's not possible. You promised to go with me to the airport" Jennifer reminded sadly.
"I'm sorry Jenny. I have paperwork to review and also my menstruation just started so... I feel so weak" I struggled to lie.
"Paperwork? You have tomorrow to do that... And as for your period, the last one came out on the 18th of last month...how come you're seeing it this early?"Jennifer asked cryptically and I started to cough.
"Well, I had a toilet infection that's why it came early" I tried to convince Jennifer.
"Lying doesn't fit you, you know" Jennifer smirked.
"I'm not coming with you." I said vividly, trying to stand on my word.
"Are you mad at me or something?" Jennifer asked sadly.
"I just want to be alone Jenny" I stand from the bed and proceed to the wall to change the light switch and open the curtain.
"You should focus on your upcoming wedding rather than pestering me" I said annoyingly.
"So... I'm bugging you?" Jennifer asked sadly.
"Yes." I said bluntly, avoiding her gaze.
"I will not bug you again then" Jennifer said and left my bedroom, I sighed.
"I'm sorry Jenny, I just have to do this" I muttered sadly to myself.
I sluggishly change into an oversized jogger and a polo then I leave my room entering into the elevator.
"Good morning Ms. Eliora" Tony greeted me and I nodded, taking my seat on the dining seat.
"How was your night?" Tony asked as he placed the dishes on the dining table.
"Very good and yours?" I asked him, taking the fork and table knife.
"Great" Tony paused.
"Ms. Jennifer left so early." Tony said.
"Yeah" I nodded, eating delicately.
"She seemed angry." Tony said.
"Yes" I nod.
"She---" Tony began but was cut off.
"Tony" I shunned him in annoyance.
"I'm sorry ma'am" Tony said sadly and I lifted my gaze at him.
Tony was a very handsome man always on his medicated stylish glasses, he has this type of Korean hairstyle, he has no beard which made him look younger than his age, he has cute pairs of light yellow eyes, his lips were sexy and small, he was tall and dreamy .... Every lady will want to have him but for some reason, I didn't find him attractive.
"I'm also sorry. I'm a bit on the edge this morning" I apologized.
"I understand." Tony smiled.
"Let's eat." I said.
"Sure" Tony nodded and we started eating.
After breakfast, I took a shower and dressed in casual wear, then Tony drove me to the city park.
"What are you doing here, Ms. Eliora?" Tony asked as he curbed the car to the parking lot.
"To get some air" I exhaled and Tony stopped the engine.
"Can we walk together then?" Tony asked courteously.
"Why not!" I said enthusiastically and alighted from the car and so did Tony.
The city park wasn't as magical as one would think. It has a big circular waterfall with lights around it, there were green benches for people to sit, there was a garden with beautiful trees, and the park for some reason felt like home.
Children were in the park playing and laughing happily with their families, at the sight of them I smiled. I also saw lovers cuddling up and sitting on the bench, I walked silently with Tony beside me.
Seeing children laughing happily and running from their mother to their father, I felt empty. My childhood wasn't this loving, I mean... My dad was always busy at work and my mom, well... She's more like a workaholic who comes back home by 12:00AM and still complains about money.
We were one big family with my elder sister and junior brother as we always had family dinner every Sunday evening... I really missed that and I hope one day, we'd come back together.
"Ms. Eliora, how about we sit?" Tony asked politely and I realized I've been staring at the playing children for a while.
"Sure" I nodded.
We took our seats on the green street bench, the cool breeze flushed on my face and I brought my hairpin from my handbag and arranged my hair to the side of my ear, pinning it with the hairpin.
"How about playing hide-and-seek?" Tony asked.
"Hide-and-seek? Are we babies?" I blushed.
"Nope but you were so engrossed by the children's play," Tony said sarcastically.
"Well, I love kids." I rattled out.
"Sure." Tony nodded.
I turned away from Tony and stared at the bustling park, the smile on my face remained unbreakable.
"Mummy, I want a cone of ice cream".
"No Hart, I have no cash on me.”
"Please mummy. Can you make some exceptions since today is my birthday?"
I overheard a conversation between a little guy and a lady who seemed to be his mother. He was about to cry while the lady stood firm on her word.
"Where to?" Tony asked me anxiously.
"Follow me if you're curious." I bluffed and proceeded to the little guy.
"Hello." I waved shortly.
"Who are you?" the lady stared at me suspiciously.
That's what all mother's would do, so I didn't take it to heart.
"Happy birthday Hart" I said as Tony returns and gave me a cone ice cream which I gave to little Hart.
"Mummy?" Little Hart turned to his mother and she nodded.
"Thank you aunty!" Little Hart happily received the ice cream and I smiled.
"Thank you." the mother said.
"It's nothing" I shook my head.
"Bye."
"Bye aunty!" They waved at me happily and left walking down the park's grassy path, I couldn't stop smiling.
"How did you know it was his birthday?" Tony asked in surprise.
"I guessed." I winked.
"Good guess." Tony gave me a thumbs up and I smiled.
"Let's head back home." I said.
"Aren't we going to Ms. Jennifer's surprise party?" Tony asked cautiously.
"We will just say... I was busy." I said and left Tony.
"Wait up, Ms. Eliora!" Tony shouted and rushed toward me, I laughed.
A weekend without Jennifer, I wouldn't lie, was boring.
Romans POV
I prepared myself to welcome my sister and also to apologize to Eliora.
It was a hard thing to do but in order to please my disturbed conscience and not fight with Jennifer, I have to do this.
The doorbell rang and Jennifer walked into the living room with my sister, they were discussing happily.
"Brother Romans!" Jane squealed happily.
"My little diamond" I said smiling brightly as Jane ran to me giving me a warm embrace, I patted her back gently.
"How have you been?" I asked.
"Very fine Brother" Jane pulled from the embrace as I ushered them into the living room fully.
"How are you babe?" I asked Jennifer who has been quiet since they came in.
"I'm good" Jennifer smiled and my eyes went from the entrance to Jennifer anxiously.
"Brother, are you expecting someone?" Jane asked.
"Not really" I rubbed my nose nervously and sat down.
"Do you like the university I choose for you?" Jennifer asked Jane.
"Yes sis. You know me best" Jane smiled.
"Jennifer... I thought you would be here with Eliora." I stuttered.
"Eliora is no longer needed," Jennifer said bluntly.
"Oh but you..." I started but was cut off.
"Enough about Eliora" Jennifer shunned.
I noticed she was angry but fringing with happiness because of Jane, I didn't bother to press further. I really wanted to see Eliora, where was she now? Maybe nature doesn't want us to reconcile.
"Jane. I have something for you" Jennifer said happily.
"What?" Jane asked anxiously.
"I love your surprises." Jane yelled happily.
"Come with me" Jennifer said and they both left the living room and I sighed.
After Jennifer's surprise, we all sat in the dining room having dinner.
"Brother, back then in Italy, I did have people who were ready to take care of me." Jane said.
"There's nothing like family." I reminded.
"True" Jane pouted her mouth and began eating.
"Babe. You've been quiet, are you alright?" I asked Jennifer anxiously.
"I'm okay." Jennifer smirked.
"Do you like the food?" Jennifer asked us.
"Yes I do." Jane hovered over.
"It’s delicious." I nodded.
"That's cool." Jennifer smiled.
"Where will I be staying now?"Jane asked sadly.
"The university hostel of course." I said.
"No brother. I hate staying in hostels."Jane frowned sadly.
"You've got to get used to it. No personal house until you're done with school." I cautioned her warmly.
"Please sister in-law... Do something" Jane squeezed Jennifer's hand on the table pleading pitifully.
"I will take care of that Hun" Jennifer assured her with a smile.
"It's a hostel babe. Don't do otherwise" I warned.
"Chill out honey, she's your only sister." Jennifer said lovingly.
"I have to teach her now so she won't turn into some rich slut in school" I said vividly.
"Don't worry, I got this" Jennifer winked.
"Thank you sister" Jane smiled happily and I shook my head in disbelief.
"Let's eat." I said.
"Sure" they began eating delicately.
Eliora's POV
I entered R- Industry the next morning looking galant and beautiful, beside me was Tony. We both walked into the elevator.
"There's an issue ma'am." Tony said frantically.
"What's the issue?" I asked slyly.
As long as there's no Jennifer and Romans in my life, I won't have an issue... not sooner. I guessed.
"Ms.." Tony began but the elevator opened and a young beautiful lady walked into the elevator, it closed again.
"You were saying?" I turned to Tony but he couldn't say anything, I stared at the lady who just entered the elevator.
"Hello sis Jenny!"
"Yeah! I'm so happy."
"You're the best sister in-law I'd ever ask for,"
"Don't worry. I'll just say hi to Brother Romans and leave."
"Bye." The lady ended the call while I was lost staring at her.
"Jane?" I muttered but it came out louder as the lady turned to me.
"You called me?" the lady asked anxiously.
Was she Jane? So, Jane is so beautiful? What's she doing here? Is she so close to Jennifer? What will happen if I show in the picture... later?
"You... called me?" the lady asked again.
"Ah! No. I mistook you for someone else" I lied and she nodded.
"We're here" Tony informed me and I nodded.
We walked out of the elevator leaving the lady inside.. alone.
"What's the issue?" I asked Tony.
"That was Ms. Jane. The CEO's only sister" Tony said.
"I figured" I exhaled heavily.
"Whatsup with her?" I asked anxiously.
"Your place... Ms. Jennifer asked that you return back to your formal place while Jane stayed in your current mansion." Tony said frantically and I remained clueless.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I mean, Ms. Jennifer wants you to move out of the mansion today" Tony said vividly but courteously.
"Ohh" I nodded.
I was nothing to her after all... I could always be replaced anytime.
Who did I think I was? I was here making decisions not to hurt her but she, did she think about me?
Truly even the irreplaceable can be replaced.
I frowned thinking about the next route to take in the next years to come or should I just quit this job of a thing?
