Chapter Seventeen: Change in Person

Eliora's POV

I went home after concluding with Jennifer to think about her amazing offer.

Seeing Romans again kind of rekindled my past feelings for him, I have always wanted to slap or even stab him for what he has caused me all these years but no. At the sight of him, I couldn't do anything... I felt frail and drawn to him.

Why is he back? When did he return? Will he want us to come back? But no... He's engaged to Jennifer and they seem to love each other so much.

Right now, I can't describe how hot my head was burning and how confuse I was, I just fell flat on my bed.

Romans POV

Jennifer has been telling me much about Miss. Eliora.

Yes, she bears the same name with my Ex but I wasn't really expecting to see my past after so many years.

The last time I saw Eliora, she was chubby, always on twin bun hairstyle, not too tall, very playful and not really gorgeous... I did loved her in the past but not hundred percent.

Seeing her again, I was left speechless. How did chubby Eliora become slim and beautiful like a model?

I was really surprised to see her with my fiancee! Nature can be quite heartless to bring us three... Together.

Eliora's voice has changed and she now make decision without my help... In the past, I made her make a terrible decision that changed her life... forever, I think.

What I couldn't understand is that seeing her again, my heart thumped gently unlike never ... did it miss her too?

I was still in my office thinking about the meeting I just had with Eliora. She has changed, she didn't even react after seeing me... Or was she faking the strong lady whole thing?

I must admit... I missed her but right now, I hope we remain friends forever and I'll definitely invite her to my wedding.

Jennifer walked into my office and immediately I sigh.

"Honey" Jennifer called softly.

"Yes babe" I smiled.

"What do you think of my friend?" Jennifer asked anxiously.

"She's nice and I think the job suit her" I said.

"Well... She's really a cool lady and she is the first friend I made here in NY" Jennifer said happily and I nodded.

"How did you meet her?" I asked hiding my curiosity.

"Eliora?... Well, when I met her she seemed to be suffering" Jennifer begins as she place her head on my shoulder.

"She was managing her life, she hardly eat nor could she pay her rent... She also complained of her Ex- who ruined her life and made her turned her back on her family" Jennifer sighed and I smirk.

"It's a long story though but when I showed in the picture, Eliora's life changed and she graduated with less stress" Jennifer said.

"Eliora really has gone through a lot" I said sadly.

"But she's lucky to meet a saint like you" I smiled.

"So babe, are you taking her?" Jennifer raised her head away from my shoulder.

"Please forgive her rude manner, she isn't like this" Jennifer pleaded pitifully before I could speak which made me laugh off.

"Of course babe. Anything for you" I assured.

"How about diner before heading home?" Jennifer suggested.

"Sure" I nodded.

In this lifetime, I don't think there's anyone that can take me away from Jennifer... I really do love her more than I have loved anyone in the past.

Jennifer and I had diner at the restaurant closer to the company building, she remained beautiful as ever. We took our seats and placed orders with smile on our faces.

"How are you preparing for our wedding?" I asked.

"Why are you in a hurry?" Jennifer teased.

"You've been the impatient one here and now there's a date, you seem to be doing nothing but hanging around me all day" I mock lovingly and she smiled.

"It's still far away babe .. there's plenty of time to make preparation" Jennifer said.

"Okay. If you say so" I nodded.

"So, when will your junior sister arrive in NY?" Jennifer asked anxiously.

Jennifer has always been close to my junior sister, Jane Robin Robert. She just entered the university but I had to transfer her back to New York since there's no close relatives in Italy, Jane will be eighteen years in the next two month ... and to shock you, no one knows about my junior sister except Jennifer.

"She said next week friday" I said.

"Cool. I'll prepare a surprise for her" as Jennifer speak, the waitress placed our orders neatly on the table and leaves.

"You and surprises" I shook my head.

"Anything for Jane" Jennifer rolled her eyes smiling.

"Oh! So you desire Jane more than I" I teased as if jealous.

"Of course not but Jane is the junior"Jennifer said sadly and I laughed.

"I'm only kidding babe" I said.

"I love you babe" Jennifer smiled wholeheartedly.

"I love you too Hun... Go ahead and eat" I took a hold of the fork and Jennifer started eating delicately.

"How have you been in NY without me?" I asked anxiously.

"Very fine. As long as there's Eliora, my days without you were great" Jennifer pauses.

"We hang out together, eat together, host movie night together, go shopping and all of it" Jennifer smile happily.

"It seems you're close to this... Eliora" I said.

"Yeah... We're best friends" Jennifer said.

"Oh... You fit in everywhere honey" I shook my head in admiration.

"Thanks babe. Eliora also fits in anywhere... I mean, you're going to love her if you get to know her" Jennifer tried to convince me.

"You're trying so hard to get her a job... Hope she doesn't disappoint you" I said.

"She won't" Jennifer said vividly.

"Huh...you trust her?" I asked in astonishment.

"Yeah" Jennifer nodded.

"Let's eat" I sighed and begin eating in silence.

After our meal, I insisted on taking Jennifer home to get to know her new apartment and all of it.

The ride was a quiet one as I focused on the road while Jennifer just stared at me without any word.

I curbed the car beside the gate Jennifer pointed and stopped the engine then we alighted from the car.

"You live here?" I asked in astonishment.

"Yes" Jennifer nods.

"It's unlike you" I shook my head in disbelieve.

"Come in" Jennifer take hold of my hand and pulled me into the estate.

We walked into another sect which was quiet but we saw Eliora, she seem to be going out.

My heart started thumping again.

"Jenny".

"Eliora" the ladies embraced happily while I watched.

"Where are you heading to?" Jennifer asked her anxiously.

"To the mall... Just to get some few things" Eliora said nervously... yeah, she was.

"Mall? By this time?" Jennifer asked and she nod.

"Babe. How about dropping Eliora at the mall?" Jennifer turned to me.

"Me?" I asked in surprise and confusion.

"No... No.. no. I can walk" Eliora rattles out.

"Babe... Be a gentleman for once" Jennifer said persuasively.

"Sure" I accepted.

"Jenny, I'm okay" Eliora declined politely.

"It's okay babe, you will be alright" Jennifer assured her.

"Okay. Goodnight Hun" I pecked Jennifer on her cheek, I could see Eliora's annoying stare but I didn't care.

"Sure" Jennifer waved shortly as I leave the estate with Eliora.

Riding in the same car with my Ex- and thumping crazy heart... Why did Jennifer make such decision? Is Eliora feeling anything or she has moved on? Does she have a serious date now?
