Chapter 4
THE NEXT MORNING, Emerald woke up early. Not because she was asked to but because she is eager to start her new job, she is anxious to see what it has in store for her.
From the passages down to the kitchen, living room and kitchen, Emerald made sure to clean everything. She used the dust sucker for the couches and electronics and used a rag for the sensitive appliances.
At exactly 7:00AM, Shirley came downstairs with her daughter, Christine.
"Good morning, ma'am" she bowed.
"Is breakfast ready?" Shirley ignored her greeting while walking to the dining with her daughter.
"Yes ma'am" she said.
"Then what are you waiting for?" Shirley shoots her an annoying stare as she takes her seat with Christine.
"There is meat sauce, egg sauce, toasted and fresh bread with chocolate tea" she said as she gently placed the dishes on the table, Christine sighed.
"All these are not to my taste!" Christine snorted lividly.
"What do you mean?" she paused.
"Based on my last research, light meals are for breakfast to make you act vibrant during the day" she explained.
"Did she ask for a tutor?" Shirley sighed.
"And did I ever inform you that I want to be vibrant? Ignorant fool" she sneered.
Her abrupt attitude kept Emerald dauntlessly speechless. First it was the mother and now the child.
"Did you hear her!" Shirley yelled.
"Yes... No..." she stuttered, confused.
"Please come again" she bowed.
"I want to eat spring rolls, cookies and coffee for breakfast," Christine said curtly.
"That... I can't make it now else you will be late for school" she informed.
"How dare you!" Shirley cursed, making her shiver in fear.
"I... I will make it now, ma'am" she said out of fear.
"Make sure it is delicious and also ensure Christine gets to school before 7:30AM, if not count yourself exterminated from this job" she hit the fork angrily on the table and left.
"What are you still standing here for?" Christine snorted.
"I will get down to it" she forced a smile and left to the kitchen.
Blake's family are known for their wealth in the city and recently Emerald has also found out their rude characteristics.
She is not allowed to visit anyone not step out of the mansion if not for their family reason.
Driving Christine to school in the classic BMW car, the atmosphere was timid and silent.
Soon, she peered Christine through the inner mirror glass and smiled.
"Such a beautiful child," she muttered.
"What did you say?" Christine fired, lifting her eyes from the iPad she was operating.
"Nothing" she shook her head.
"Why did you accept to work for us? Is it for our money? Get lost, I can pay you" Christine cursed arrogantly.
"I'm not here for your money" she smiled but the truth hurt.
"Then what? You want to snatch my father away from my mum? Then you are evil" she sighed, rolling her eyes with an uninterested look.
"Calm down, Christy. For a lady, you have a bad attitude" she informed.
"How dare you say that to my face, you fool!" Christine squealed.
She doesn't like it when someone steps on her toes.
"I will pretend I didn't hear your last words," she said.
"Whatever" she continued operating her iPad.
Entering into the school through the opened wide giant gate, she curbed the car on the part properly.
The school is on more than acres of land, very large and big. It has a five story building in landscape form. The school had fountains, gardens, parks and other outdoor resources compared to other schools. The interior is yet to behold.
Almost all the parents and guidance that came to drop the children off were riding expensive cars.
Emerald stared and couldn't speak, as soon as Christine alighted from the car, she drove off.

After dropping Christine in the most buoyant and dignified school in the city, she drove back home.
She wasted no time at home and went straight to the shopping mall.
She shopped for groceries, the supermarket was large and had almost everything on her list.
She purchased the needed stock, made payment and left the supermarket.
Luckily, she met Deborah in the garage.
"Debby!" she yelled happily.
"Emerald?" Deborah seemed confused and happy at the same time.
They embrace tightly.
"How have you been?" she asked.
"Where have you been?" Deborah asked.
They burst into laughter.
"I got a job. How about you?" she asked.
"Been good. Still handling daddy's company" Deborah smiled.
"Have you checked on my mum, lately? she asked anxiously.
"Yes and she is fine, don't worry" Deborah assured.
"I would have loved to chat more but I have to rush back to my office," she said impatiently.
She wasn't allowed to visit or have any relationship outside their mansion, what would happen to her if she is caught discussing with a friend rather than coming back home.
"I totally understand. Stay safe" they exchange farewells by warm embrace.
She enjoyed her peaceful time during noon, she had rest and did a few chores after which she went to pick Christine from school.

Shirley and Christine had supper, stressing the life of Emerald. She prepared different dishes but all got rejected by the...
"Small devil" that's what she calls Christine.
And at the end, they had tea and sliced bread for lunch.
Emerald read a few bedtime stories for Christine in her pinkish beautiful bedroom.
"Your tone is hoarse and uninteresting, I can never fall asleep hearing it" Christine cursed.
"Then what should I do? Other children sleep in minutes whenever I read for them" she informed.
"That means those children are cows," she paused.
"Please leave my room, with your attitude I would want to close my eyes" Christine sighed and covered the duvet over her face, turning to the other side.
"Good night" she sighed, placed the story on the table and left the room.
By 11:30PM, Emerald decided to check if everything was in place before she went to bed. Suddenly, some noise came from the door and she decided to check who the person was.
As she could remember, everyone was already sleeping in their rooms.
