Unwanted Darkness

"What?" excluding the uninvited guests, they screamed in astonishment.

"What did you say?" he panicked.

"I said following the past medical report for Mr. Blake, he has symptoms flashing madness and anger issues" the stranger informed them courteously.

"You must be joking, right?" Christine said rhetorically, giving them a questionable stare.

By the outfits and demeanor of this stranger, he totally looks like a quack. Who knows if it is his own way to scam Shirley of some funds and she foolishly believed him.

"It's the truth, sweetheart. Your dad isn't the perfect man you think he is" Shirley tries to sweet talk Christine out of her decision.

"But no one is perfect and also I'm not searching for a perfect dad" Christine informed her mother, softly but in curt tone.

"Believe it or not, you have to reverse your decision in court before your father does any harm to you" Shirley urged.

"I will never hurt my daughter" he paused after a short sigh.

"Besides, the court gave your order not to come closer to my family. What are you doing here or do you want me to sanction you?" his eyebrows furrowed in anger and Shirley clears her throat.

"Well... the thing is" Shirley begins but stops to listen to what the stranger whispers in her ear and after taking in his words, she calms herself down.

"I will set a meeting with the lawyer, this matter must be re-adjourned" Shirley said persistently, seeming adamant to the core.

"You don't just know when to quit, do you? '' he shook his head in disbelief.

"Whatever you do, my dad remains the best parent" Christine paused, shifting her eyes to her father's cold stares and back at Shirley.

"This may sound too brutal but, I don't wish to have a mother like you! You are nothing but an embarrassment" Christine cried out to her face, Shirley couldn't take it in thus she lowered her head in shame.

"But I'm still your mother, I will forever be your mummy. My blood runs through your vein" Shirley cried out in a loud voice as Blake and Christine left the living room.

She sighed.

"I think it's hard to convince her, please give them sometime and kindly leave" she said, as sweet as she could ever be with her calm, beautiful voice.

"Don't act like you don't know the cause of this" Shirley stared at her, provoked and left the room angrily and the stranger followed her from behind.

She couldn't choose between the two rooms to visit thus she decided to rest early in her bedroom. Giving a last look at the living room and making sure everything was intact from the outer room to the kitchen and lobby, she retired to bed.

But sleep wouldn't come as she yearned for it, she stared at her blank ceiling in silence and she began to ruminate on what had happened. Especially her encounter with Blake.

"Will he ever be mine?" These thoughts cloud her mind and eventually she sleeps off, unconsciously.

Morning didn't give anyone a break, while she prepared breakfast. One of the maids that usually work during morning hours rushed into the kitchen, breathing heavily. The maid startled Emerald who's in the middle of preparing scrambled eggs.

"What is it?" she asked anxiously.

"You need to see this, Miss. Em" the maid's eyes were pervading fear as she shook her two hands in the air.

"Tell me, what is happening?" She quickly left what she was doing and focused on the maid, due to the hiccup, she couldn't hear exactly what the maid was saying.

"There is no one rushing you here, explain to me what happened? Did you break some furniture?" she asked as her eyes drifted to the quiet stare and back at the scared maid.

"It's Miss. Christ...." yet, the maid couldn't control her emotion.

Without a second word, she rushed out of the kitchen with full force. She can't afford to bear the sharp screw of pains that will drive smoothly into her fragile heart, if ever, anything happens to Christine.

Panting like a hippopotamus and jumping the stairs energetically, she entered Christine's room.

"You idiot!" Shirley throws notepads and papers at the man in her living room, the man didn't retaliate or defend himself. He looked guilty and afraid.

"What have you done?" Shirley cried out loudly.

After her divorce, she disagreed to live with her family and chose to buy an isolated bungalow far from the lively city and during this time, aside from hectic activities - life without her family has been lonely.

And the pain she gets whenever she remembers the last word of her only child, the pain of seeing another woman claiming what belongs to her. She was furious, envious and very confused.

What other approach can she use to take her family back, right now she's regretting every action and decisions of hers. She made a drastic move that has a never ending return. She was amiss.

This man just made everything worse, he made her look like a fool in front of her family. The shame remained in her heart like a stigma. This man only needed wealth but he used her family to get it there by making everything unmakeable.

"This is just the beginning, Madam Shirley. Everything will soon be yours" the man said with a grin.

"How? My child, my only freaking child, hates my guts and sees me as nothing but a happiness crasher" Shirley frowned sadly as she crashed, sitting roughly on the armchair.

"You have to get a stronger heart in order to fight against your child and husband" the man said holistically and she smirked, turning to him.

"You can go straight to the point and ask for money rather than using me to ruin my family" Shirley screamed at his face in annoyance.

"No, no. You will definitely get your family back" the man nodded in affirmative.

"Scram! You idiot" Shirley cursed  and nodded frantically, the man left her room. Immediately Shirley sighed in relief.

"What am I doing? Believing some retarded man's word" Shirley scoffed as she could not believe her past mood but in the end, she got happier to have ended the whole jungle up.
