Chapter 26

Sadness Knocking

Truly, she is a rare being and an angel sent into the Thompson's family. Within two weeks, Blake was soon on his feet and going about in his businesses.

Since the mess that has been created by the Benson's took over his company, he began to work from home and rarely visited his company. The Benson's have been on his neck since their last visit and they were using his last resorts the company and Christine to pin him out yet he tried not to bulge.

Emerald carved the carbon papers while Christine painted them, they were in the process of making a house with the carbon.

Soon, the doorbell rings. Emerald left what she was doing to check the door.

Meanwhile, Blake was having a video meeting with his fellow businessmen who were accomplished professionals. As the meeting continued, he took down some of the necessary facts into his diary. He heard a knock from his door.

"Come in" he said absentmindedly with his attention focused on what he was penning down.

"Sir, this parcel just arrived" she said, handing the parcel to him, but he didn't receive it yet.

"From who?" he disconnected his audio sound from the system so he won't distract the ongoing live meeting.

"The sender .... is.... the.... the Benson's?" she struggled to find the sender on the body of the letter, she raised a surprised brow after her last word. Then she got his attention, he collected the parcel and impatiently ripped it off.

"What?!" he shouted as soon as he saw the header.

"What is it, sir?" she wondered anxiously with her eyes rolling all over him.

He reads the letter aloud, she staggers backward in astonishment. This manner concerning court has long been ended, why bring it up again?

"Sir... what to do?" she asked.

"What else? Prepare of course" he took a last look at the letter, shoved her off and left his study room.

She sighed and also left.

Sitting in court again is the last thing that has ever crossed his mind but fortunately he was fast in preparing his lawyer who almost left the state for Germany in respect to his seven (7) years vacation.

"Base on the complaint with us, you are sanctioned for maltreating your child, disregarding her affairs and also lacking fatherly attributes. Do you agree?" the Chief judge questioned steadily with his voice echoed(ing) in the hall.

"Objection my Lord, the last time I checked. Mr. Blake was the one that chose his daughter's new school and prepared her necessary requirements. He also went on a picnic with her, last we heard. Secondly, my Lord, how does one show the attributes of a father?" Stone is known for his invincible stunt and professional excellent skills when it comes to law practice.

He hardly has a failed case and rarely gets a hold on. The Chief judge was left astounded by his unfathomable words. The Chief judge cleared his throat after a brief silence, he obviously recollected his thoughts.

"What do you have to say?" He turned to Benson's wing. And their lawyer, Patrick, stands.

"My Lord, all those are of the past as last recorded. We planted surveillance cameras around Mr. Blake's mansion and ..." Patrick was cut off by Stone.

"Object my Lord" he stood up and turned to Patrick, looking shocked. He turned back to the Chief judge.

"How could he plant cameras in the house of my client without permission? That is burglary" Stone queried and the Chief judge nodded.

"True. That noted" the Chief judge said in affirmative.

"This case will go the wrong way full of disagreement. As we ended it earlier, we would love to hear from his daughter" the Chief judge adjusted his medicated glass.

"Is she present?" and soon, Christine walked out from the crowd to the central platform.

All eyes were on her.

"What do you have to say, Miss. Blake?" the Chief judge asked politely.

"Nothing much" she crossed her arms.

One thing for sure, she contracted pride and boldness from her father. At the sight of his daughter's courageous stance, he smirked looking impressed.

"My words remain unchangeable. I love my father and I'm staying with him forever" she said vividly, staring at each of them with seriousness.

"And who told you dad isn't taking care of me, grandpa?" she wiggles her brows at Benson and his wife, they blinked their eyes feeling embarrassed.

"Christine, don't you miss your mother even a bit? Come stay with us and we will take care of you" Benson's wife urged.

"I. Am. Not. Coming" she emphasized on each word and turned back to the Chief judge.

"With all due respect sir, I'm not interested in any relative if not my father so please and please, don't accept such cases regarding them anymore. Thank you" she curtsy at the judge in a sassy way which made him smile brightly then she leaves into the crowd.

The Chief judge did not hesitate to hit the mace.

"Matter adjourned. Benson's family must keep off from the Thompson's and never bring this similar case to the court" he added.

"Court arise!" his assistant announced as soon as the Chief judge stood and everyone in the courtroom stood up, and the Chief judge left.

"Urgh" Benson grinned looking at his lawyer in annoyance.

"This isn't over yet," Benson spat.

"Your voice was recorded, sorry" Blake snorted and left.

Benson looked confused and scared, he looked at his wife and the lawyer unsure of what to say next.

"Don't say any other word" even before he tried to speak, his wife shunned him. She knew how her husband could be in a situation like this.

They all left the court.

"Did I help dad this time?" Christine asked anxiously.

"Of course and I think your dad is happy with you" she whispered softly and Christine's cheeks gently rose into a bright happy smile.

"What is my reward?" Christine wiggles her brow, mischievously.
