Chapter Twenty-Nine: Wild Fire

Romans' POV

"What?" She asked in shock.

"Your dress... the back" I said skeptically.

"Oh. I must have sat on a wet seat." She said.

"Use this." I handed her my small white handkerchief.

"Thank you." She started scrubbing the back of her dress and then returned the handkerchief to me but we both looked at the handkerchief in shock.

"What the fuck! Blood?" I thought in confusion.

[Eliora's POV]

Yes. I foolishly collected the handkerchief and scrubbed my dress like a crazy rabbit.

Oh shame. What had I done to deserve this?

"You're not okay?" Romans asked softly.

"I .. the thing is" I stuttered shyly.

Before I could continue, Romans used his suit to wear me gently and I stared at him clueless with my hot burning cheeks. Wearing his suit, I looked so small in it as it covered me like a sack of rice. The suit was longer up to my lower butts covering the stained rejoin.

"Can you walk back to your office?" Romans ask, concerned and I nod sheepishly.

"Go ahead and change. You can have as much vacation as you want" Romans said.

"Really?" I asked in astonishment.

"Yeah. Now go ahead" Romans smiled.

When has he turned romantic and caring? I nodded and left his office.

Walking back to my office other staff members that saw me started gossiping between themselves but I didn't care not until my fourth sense wished that the news didn't get to Jennifer... Maybe it was already too late.

"Excuse me!" Jennifer shouted and barged into my office looking angry.

"Jenny" I immediately stood from the seat approaching her.

"What did you do?" Jennifer asked anxiously.

"What do you mean?" I ask, confused.

"This... Why are you wearing Romans suit?" Jennifer asked, crossing her arms.

"Jenny, don't you trust me?" I asked in amazement.

"Who do you want me to believe? The news or you who's giving me no explanation?" Jennifer asked annoyingly.

"I stained my dress and he lent his jacket to me. I'm fuckingly sick. What do you take me for?" I asked angrily. It seems the anger has shifted to me, I couldn't control it any longer. Doesn't she trust me? Then... Why are we best friends?

"You're sick?" Jennifer recoiled, looking worried.

"Of course I'm. My menstruation came earlier than expected." I informed her.

"I never wanted it now." I complained sadly.

"It's alright. The news said Mr. Romans has a mistress and I became furious to see that..." Jennifer paused, staring at me and I smiled.

"That freaking ass bitch?" I winked.

"I'll go with yours." Jennifer smiled.

"How are you feeling now?" Jennifer asks, concerned.

"Not good. I'll go home soon" I said.

"Ok. I'll drive you then" Jennifer said.

"Nope. I'm okay alone" I suggested.

"I'll drive you so others could see I know about you and Romans relationship and all of it" Jennifer insisted with good reasons.

"Sure. I'll just pack up then" I said and started arranging my desk.

Romans POV

No wonder she looked weak and not so pretty.

It's her period.

"Why did I notice it? I guess she's shy now." I sighed sadly and instantly my office door pulled open.

"Sir, you need to see this," Paige said, passing the tablet to me.

BREAKING NEWS: CEO OF R- INDUSTRY, MR. ROMANS ROBIN ROBERT HAS A MISTRESS

It had Eliora's pictures, I smirked.

"So?" I raised a brow giving Paige back the iPad.

"Ma'am Jennifer rushed here immediately when she saw the news." Paige informed courteously.

"Did she make any trouble?" I asked anxiously, almost standing from my seat.

"Not really. She seemed happy when leaving with Ma'am Eliora" Paige said certainly with an unsure expression, I smiled.

"They are friends and she also trusts her man" I boasted and Paige nodded.

"Okay. I'll be out then" Paige bowed shortly and left.

"What's bad if I have one mistress?" I winked.

My phone rings interrupting my silly thoughts.

"Hanson?" I called in surprise.

Hanson is my personal assistant but he has been in R- Industry Italy branch for quite some time, so having him call me without any memo was unusual.

"Sir, there's an issue?" Hanson said and by his tone, he sounded worried.

"What's it?" I asked anxiously.

"The investors saw the broadcast... It's a mess here" Hanson reported.

"Really? You can't control it? I'll be there in the next hour" I said.

"Okay sir" Hanson said and the call ended, I sighed.

Can I leave now? But what about her?

"Who will manage the company while I'm away?" I paused to think.

"I'll have to disturb Jenny again." I said sadly before taking up my phone.

Eliora's POV

Jennifer was nice.

She's too nice to be cheated on.

She's too nice to be lied to.

She's too nice to be played.

I watched as she rushed out of my room to get me some stomach pain drugs. I was already lying flat on the bed, tired and at the same time in pain.

My phone beeped and I stretched to take it from the bedside table when Jennifer rushed into the room. She saw me struggling, so she gave the phone to me and sat beside me on the bed.

"Who's it?" Jennifer asked as she prepared my medication.

"Still checking," I said, scrolling my phone.

It was a message.

["I'll be away for a couple of days. Take care of yourself until you're better."]

It was a text message from Romans a.k.a Danger.

"Who's it?" Jennifer asked again.

"It's a notification from my school group. Nothing much" I lied nervously.

No one expects me to tell her the truth, right?

"Okay. Sit up and take your medicine then" Jennifer smiled passing the glass to me.

"Is it bitter?" I asked, squeezing my face.

"What does medicine taste like?" Jennifer asked in mockery.

"Syrups taste sweet.. you know." I teased.

"Just drink it. Cry baby." Jennifer mocks me thus I gulped the liquid in the glass.

"Ah!" I squealed.

"How's it?" Jennifer asked anxiously.

"Get me some fruit or sweets," I said sadly.

"Nope. Sugary things will only make your stomach hurt" Jennifer informed and I sigh sadly.

"This is bad." I frowned and Jennifer's phone rang.

"Hold on." Jennifer said standing from the bed, she takes the call.

"Hello babe." Jennifer said.

"I'm good and you?" Jennifer asked.

"Nope. It's okay." Jennifer smiled.

"Why?" Jennifer had an anxious facial expression.

"Okay. I'll miss you though." Jennifer frowned a bit.

"It's okay. Take care then." Jennifer said.

The call ended and Jennifer walked back to me.

"Is there any issue?" I asked cryptically.

"Not really. My hubby will be away for a couple of days" Jennifer informed me and I smirked.

He told me first, at the thought of this I smiled.

"And..?" I asked.

"I'll be in charge of the company," Jennifer said.

"Really?" I asked anxiously.

"Yeah. I'm the Vice president." Jennifer informed.

"What the... What!?" I screamed in astonishment.

"You never told me this," I said.

"You never asked." Jennifer manoeuver.

"Whoa. That's.. great." I said still surprised.

"It's okay. I'm still incognito, I don't go to meetings or all that stuff. I just bear the name because of my shares" Jennifer explained briefly and I nod.

"Cool" I smiled.

"My sister's wedding is coming up." I informed.

"Really? When?" Jennifer asked anxiously.

"Two weeks before yours." I said unsure.

"I can't wait to meet your family members," Jennifer said happily.

"They will be so surprised to see you. They will also be surprised to hear that I have a best friend" I said.

"Why?" Jennifer asked.

"Because I don't keep girlfriends. The last one I had, it took her three years before I accepted to be her best friend" I said, controlling my damn pride.

"Oh really. Where's she now?" Jennifer asked anxiously.

"We're no longer together. Something happened and we both moved on without each other" I explained abstractly.

"So bad.." Jennifer frowned.

"Tell me, what made you accept me?" Jennifer asked happily.

"Let's just say you were too clingy and I couldn't run away from you" I smiled.

"Really?" Jennifer asked excitedly.

"Yeah. You crumbled my damn walls, I just can't let you go now. If there's anything that will make us break up, I'll let it go" I said with an assuring smile.

"Me too. I have never had a best friend before and I tried it on with you... It seems to be working" Jennifer smiled happily.

"It's alright. Can I rest now? I'm a bit tired" I asked politely.

"Sure sure. I'll leave you then, if you need anything call me" Jennifer said lovingly.

"You've done enough," I smiled.

"Take care" Jennifer planted a soft peg on my cheek and left the room, I smiled happily.

She's too nice.

Another thing baffles me.

"What made Romans leave all of a sudden?" Still anxious, I took my phone to check updates.

BREAKING NEWS: CEO OF R- INDUSTRY, MR ROMANS HAS A MISTRESS AND HAVE JUST LEFT NY TO ITALY TO RESOLVE THE MESS

"News spread so fast," I sighed.

Just wearing his suit had caused him this much... Then what if they knew we're Ex and have kissed?

"Is he alright?" I muttered sadly.

"Should I drop him an encouraging text?" I asked unsure.

I didn't know if it was the right thing to do but if I do it, I'm accepting to be a mistress. I can't be someone's second choice. If I'm not the first and only, then forget it.

I encouraged myself and exhaled sharply, closing my eyes. The medication seemed to be working.

Fortunately I had unlimited days off thus I visited my family with Jennifer. We booked a cab though as none of us were in the mood to drive.

"Is this your house?" Jennifer pointed at the building facing us.

No, the fainted and algae-eaten building facing us and I just nodded like a coward.

"Let's go in" I said, as we began walking closer to the house Jennifer stopped.

"The car..." Jennifer muttered softly, I didn't hear clearly.

"Anything?" I asked slyly.

"The car looks familiar" Jennifer said certainly.

"Oh really! My big uncle Rommy got it for me" Aiden's voice came from behind us. He rushed out of the house with my parents and Rebecca.

"Uncle Rommy?" Jennifer asked cryptically.

"It's a friend of mine. Aiden is good at giving nicknames" I rattled out nervously.

"Mum.. dad" I shared an embrace with them happily.

"You're finally here," Rebecca asked, smiling.

"Sorry I'm late" I said apologetically.

"Please I want you all to meet my best friend... Jennifer" I introduced rashly.

"Nice to meet you all," Jennifer smiled.

"Best friend? It's weird" My dad said, shaking his head in disbelief.

"I'm amazed," My mum said, smiling at Jennifer.

"Nice to meet you, Jenny," Rebecca said softly.

"Nice to meet you aunty Jenny" Aiden said happily.

"It's my pleasure," Jennifer smiled.

"Let's go in" My mum ushered us into the living room.

Don't look around, nothing has changed.

I and Jennifer sat on the armchair while my parents and siblings sort themselves out on the singular couches.

"How's the preparation going?" I asked Rebecca.

"Cool. Next Saturday is going to be a blast" Rebecca smiled.

"I'm happy for you. Don't worry the electrical company won't fail us on that day" I assured.

"I know," Rebecca nodded.

"Eliora sweetheart, when is Romans coming to marry you?" My dad asked anxiously.

"Dad.." I said shyly.

"Romans?" Jennifer asked anxiously.

"Yeah. Romans is Eliora's fiancè" Rebecca said impatiently.

"Oh, let's calm down" I tried to change the topic.

"I know you're a shy girl" My mum winked and I laughed slightly.

"How about you Jenny? Are you married?" My dad asked politely.

"Not yet sir. I'll be getting married two weeks after sister Becca's wedding" Jennifer explained briefly.

"Woa. Who's the lucky man?" Rebecca asks, interested.

"It's Romans," Jennifer said happily.

"Romans... Romans... Romans.... Hope it's all different from our Romans?" My mum asked teasingly and we laughed.

"Mine is the CEO of R- Industry." Jennifer said impatiently before I could stop her.

"What?" Everyone exclaimed in shock.

"Your Romans is also my sister's Romans? Is uncle Rommy getting married to two ladies?" Aiden said in astonishment.

He actually ruined everything... Unintentionally.

Jennifer turned to me anxiously, she was expecting an explanation.

"What do they mean?" Jennifer asked in a whispering hopeless tone and I stared at her without saying a word.

How do I say it? What do I even say? Was our relationship going to fade away because of a man... I never planned on telling her this, this way.
